Long time, no see readers. Sorry for the hiatus. I figured that I would take a brief break after my last post, regroup, go on vacay, and then hit it hard when the kids went back to school after Spring Break. They are back now and so am I.
I have recently discovered a love for olive colored clothing. I’ve had a few pieces in my closet for a while and wear them occasionally, but I’ve been wearing at least one piece a week the past few months so I thought I’d show you a couple different ways to wear the four pieces I love most.
This is probably my all time favorite olive item. This utility jacket is from Love Tree. I got it at a boutique in Charleston, SC about 4 years ago. I’m so impressed with how well it has held up. It’s color still looks great, no frays or split seams, and it just gets softer with time.
In the first pic, I’ve paired it with white skinny jeans, a floral top, and nude flats. I dressed it up a little with a statement necklace and some tassel earrings that I got in my latest FabFitFun box.
In the second pic, I went for a more casual look with skinny jeans, a simple v-neck striped tee, and my Converse. Not that you can see them in the photo, but I’m wearing pearl stud earrings. I am generally a pearl or diamond stud kind of girl.
This is the olive tunic that I talked about it my latest Stitch Fix review (read that post here) It is really comfy. I am actually surprised at how much I like this top. It really isn’t something I would have picked out for myself, but I’m finding so many different ways to wear it.
The first pic is more of an “I can wear it right now” outfit. It is still pretty chilly in DC, but I can get away with this on a nice day. I’m comfy in leggings, but still look pulled together enough to volunteer at school or grab coffee with a friend. And of course, I paired it with my trusty leopard flats.
The second pic is an outfit that I am looking forward to wearing this summer. This top is so airy that I am sure it is going to be a great summer top. White jeans are summer perfect with gold jewelry and sandals.
I recently replaced my old olive skinnies with these from Old Navy. This pair is a brighter olive color than my old ones, but I actually really like that. I feel like they are more Springy, but I can still get away with them other times of year too.
The first pic is definitely going to be a go-to this Spring. There is just enough olive detail in the top to match the pants without being too matchy-matchy. Again, I paired it with my favorite denim jacket and some nude flats. I’ve also got on a simple hammered gold bar necklace and the same earrings linked in the second set of photos.
The second outfit pictured here is a classic me outfit: jeans, striped top, leopard flats. This is pretty much my uniform all Fall and Winter, so I’m happy for these brighter olive skinnies to take my look into Spring. Unfortunately, this top is no longer available. It’s from Old Navy and it was almost out of stock when I stumbled upon it. I was heartbroken because when I discovered how comfy and versatile it was, I wanted it in every color, which of course wasn’t possible. Sad face.
I got this olive utility vest in a Stitch Fix ages ago. I usually only wear it the Fall, but I was recently browsing Pinterest and saw several ways to make it work well into Summer.
The first outfit pictured is another typical outfit for me. I have a serious love for striped shirts. The booties are from Clarks and have been on my list for ages. They are half price right now so you can bet I snatched them up right away. I love them! I added a brushed gold pendant necklace for a little sparkle.
The second featured outfit is copied from a few different outfits I saw on Pinterest. I would have never thought to wear a vest and a sleeveless top, but how cute is it?! I paired it with some Prosperity jeans that are also from a past Stitch Fix. They are really stretchy and comfortable. The same pendant necklace from the first utility vest outfit and previously linked sandals are also paired here.
These are just a few of the olive items currently in my closet. I have a fantastic drawstring waist dress that I picked up in New Zealand, an amazing new short sleeve tee shirt from a recent Old Navy haul, and a pair of drawstring linen shorts that I can’t wait to wear this summer. I am definitely looking to add more pieces as olive is such a versatile color.
