Stitch Fix Review #2

Happy Wednesday readers.  My latest Stitch Fix box arrived on Monday so I thought I would give you a glimpse.  My usual stylist is on vacation and I new that as soon as I peaked on my app at what would arrive.  I was really unsure of a few of the items since they are something I wouldn’t usually wear or quite what I requested, but I was pleasantly surprised when I tried on everything.

I’m heading to San Antonio in a couple of weeks to meet up with my BFF and her kiddos.  It will be significantly warmer there than it is in DC (or at least that’s what I am hoping) so I wanted a few items I could take on the trip.  I also wanted to be able to use them with layers for the rest of the Spring here.  Here’s what I got.

Please excuse the small brown blur in the background. She refused to move.

Loveappella hoodie

Can I just tell you how much I love this hoodie!?! This LOVEAPPELLA Brena Colorblocked Brushed Knit Hoodie is soooo soft.  It feels like butter. It’s also surprisingly warm.  It was perfect for today with jeans.  It is still cold here and I am honestly feeling a bit spiteful about it.  The lighter tones and the bright pop of coral made me a bit happier today. The fact that this hoodie has thumb holes made me even happier. It’s also going to be great to throw on with shorts on cool mornings this spring and evenings in the summer. Verdict: Keep.

Dear John shorts

The one item that I specifically requested was a pair of distressed denim shorts. I pinned several pairs like this on my Pinterest board so the stylist did a great job matching what I wanted.  These Dear John Lillie Distressed Cuffed Denim Shorts are a great length, not too short, not too long.  I like the cuff and the level of distressing.  They are just a little loose in the back, but I think that if they go through the dryer once, they will be perfect.  They look great with the Loveappella hoodie, but I think they will be perfect with a t-shirt or over a swim suit at the beach this summer. VERDICT: Keep.

Market & Spruce dress

I was really excited when I pulled this dress out of the box.  I’ve pretty much love anything from Market & Spruce that I have received from Stitch Fix in the past.  And, if you follow my Instagram, you know that I am always wearing stripes.  Like, always.  The Market & Spruce Britta T-shirt Dress is exactly something I would choose for myself to wear on a warm spring day.  It’s a really nice weight knit.  I don’t think I would have to worry about the back being blown up in the breeze or anything.  It also has some really nice button detailing at the back of the neck line. It would be really cute with a crisp, white denim jacket and some flats or on its own with a pair of sandals. It could also go really casual with Converse, like seen above. Unfortunately, this particular dress was too big.  I was thinking maybe I could have it altered to have a twist in the front to take out some of the width, but in the end I decided to send it back.  VERDICT: Return.

Skies are blue top

So, I wasn’t really sure about this top when I first saw it.  I have never really liked these off the shoulder style shirts.  BUT, I decided that I would at least give it a try because I liked the colors so much.  I am so glad that I did! It is adorable.  I paired it with my Jamie jeans from TopShop.  They are a great high rise option and they come in petite which means I don’t have to cuff or hem them. SCORE! I feel like I could dress this outfit down with a pair of nice flip-flops (yes there is such a thing).  I am excited to dress it up with some wedge sandals and hit the town for a summer date night with my hubby though.  VERDICT: Keep.

Sweet Grey top

This last item was my biggest surprise.  I absolutely hated it when I pulled it out of the box.  The color seemed drab for Spring and the stye was not something I could see myself in at all.  I was really surprised when I tried it on though.  The length is great. I really liked the swingy material and once I put on the white jeans, the drab faded away.  I think it will look great with some blingy gold jewelry and really make the outfit stand out.  I also think that I can make it work with a pair of black leggings, denim jacket and some flats.  VERDICT: Keep.

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by the Fix.  I think I have some cute pieces to pack for San Antonio and that I can wear this Spring and Summer.  I can’t wait to see what comes in my next Stitch Fix box (I do hope Lauren is back by then though).
