Morning Routine Update

Hi there! My apologies that this post is a bit late.  Our entire neighborhood was without internet on Tuesday.  I actually didn’t know that was even possible! And since my “activity” is a bit restricted as I recover from surgery, I couldn’t go hang out at Starbucks all day to get this post up.

So, since most of what I wore this past week was pajamas I decided to do something a little different for “What I Wore Wednesday”.  I’ve added quite a few items to my skin and hair care regimen recently so I thought I would share them.

hair and skin

Tula Complete Body + Beauty routine //  L’Oreal Blow Dry It //  Stila Smudge Stick // Maybelline Total Temptation Brow Definer // Kevyn Aucoin Mascara // Urban Decay De-Slick

Tula Complete Body + Beauty Routine: This stuff is fantastic! Cristin Cooper over at the Southern Style Guide turned me on to this and I literally couldn’t thank her enough. It includes a Purifying Face Cleanser, Pro-Glycolic 10% pH Resurfacing Gel, Hydrating Day & Night Cream, and Daily Probiotic & Skin Health Complex.  I was in the market for a new skincare routine and I take a daily probiotic anyway so this combo was a no brainer for me. I still struggle with acne at 38 and feel like I have tried everything under the sun to keep my skin clear.  I was skeptical that Tula would actually do anything for me since it isn’t really marketed as a product for acne-prone skin but my skin has vastly improved.  I have been using these products for just over a month now and my skin has truly never looked better.  It’s clear, it’s well hydrated, and it’s glowing. If you would like to try it out click this link for 20% your first order: TULA

L’Oreal Blow Dry It Quick Dry Primer Spray: I was a little unsure about this one because feel like I use a lot of product in my hair to begin with, but am so glad I tried this.  I first read about it over on The Small Things Blog.  Kate always has fantastic advice when it comes to hair (and just about everything else). I have really fine hair but A LOT of it and it takes soooo long to blow dry.  This product protects my hair from the heat and helps it dry faster. Win-win!

Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner: I have been wanting to try this for ages! I saw a pin on Pinterest probably years ago now, about using white liner on your lower lid to open up your eyes.  I don’t know why I waited so long to try this.  It is such a great trick to give you that wide eyed, wide awake look, which I could definitely use.  I use color Alpine.

Maybelline Total Temptation Brow Definer: So, while I have fairly well defined brows, like my eyelashes they tend to fade to blonde towards the ends. Enter this awesome product! It has one end with the color applicator which is a slanted pencil of sorts and one end that looks a bit like a stubby mascara wand to blend.  It works wonders for adding a little something to my brows.  I use medium brown.

Kevyn Aucoin The Volume Mascara: The last time I went to Sephora, I was on the hunt for several items including a new mascara.  I liked the effect of my old one but felt like it left little flakes on my face throughout the day. Not cool. As always, the Sephora associates had the answer.  I have long lashes to start with but without mascara, I look like I don’t have any because 3/4 of the length is blonde. This mascara is perfect for me because it adds length, volume, and color to my lashes without looking goopy or overdone. I wear Black It doesn’t run under my eyes during the day but is easily removed when I wash my face at night.

Urban Decay De-Slick Mattifying Powder: My forehead and nose tend to be more oily than the rest of my face.  I really hate having to reapply makeup midday to compensate.  This product is a huge game changer for me.  I apply it over my makeup in the morning like a setting powder and then just dab a bit on my nose and forehead once during the day if I get a bit shiny. It doesn’t add any color or take away from my makeup. It just gives me a nice matte look. Problem solved!

I really love all of these products! Hope that you found something new and interesting to try.
