Same clothes, different way

Hello all! Do you ever find an item of clothing that love so much that you buy it in every color?  I totally do.  Over the years, I have had a pair of ballet flats that I had in literally 5 different colors, numerous shirts that were too amazing to have just one, and recently I have taken to buying multiple pairs of jeans whenever I find some that fit just right.

My most recent scores are 2 pieces that I found via LiketoKnow.it.  I actually can’t wait until my blog is big enough to be a part of RewardStyle because I think that the LiketoKnow.it app is a fantastic way to find great clothes from the blogs and Instagrammers that I follow.

over the shoulder

I was so excited to find this top.  I am not tall or slim, I have a short torso on top of that and  therefore have had the worst time finding a peplum that actually looks good on me. Nordstrom to the rescue.  The peplum top by BP. is a great length for me.  It has a longer torso before the “ruffle” which works great for me.  It also has this nice hi-lo feature that lengthens it even further.  I am so glad that I decided to order it in two colors.  I feel like both are classic colors and I can dress them up or down depending on my mood.  I may actually order another in pink.

full front of outfit

These jeans are slightly different but basically the same.  I recently bought 3 pairs of pull-on jeggings from Old Navy.  Given my history with Old Navy jeans, I wasn’t expecting much.  However, I was pleasantly surprised and actually ended up keeping all 3 pairs. The first photo is the the Mid-rise Rockstar Jeggings. The wash is called “Rinse” and it is a really dark blue.  They almost look black in certain light. I also bought another pair of the same jeans (not shown) in “Golden Gate”. They were part of my #ootd on instagram yesterday.  The second photo features the Pull-on Deconstructed Rockstar Jeggings. They have a slightly looser fit, but I still like them.  I really like the deconstructed look of these. I feel like they add a casual feel to the outfit, but I still look really nice. At the same time, I feel like I could wear a hoodie and some Converse with these jeans too.

accessorize

I love to accessorize.  Good accessories really make an outfit.  I have a necklace from LOFT that came on a card that said “basic outfit averted”.  This is exactly my goal; to make a basic outfit not basic.  I really love these earrings.  I don’t often wear dangly earrings but when I’m in the mood, I reach for these first. They came in a StitchFix ages ago and I was so excited when I opened the box. I like how my necklace mimics the shape of the earrings without being too matchy-matchy.

How cute are these shoes?! Would you believe that I found them at a consignment shop brand new.  They are from Ann Taylor and cost me $25.  I was winning that day.  They came in green too and I was really sad that those ones were a size too small.  I’ve only worn them a few times and it wasn’t until this photoshoot (when it was actually sunny for a change) that I realized just how bright they are.  I love them even more now. They aren’t available in stores any longer but I did find a few pairs available on eBay

My clutch is a New Zealand find, but I found a cute fold over option with a tassel accent here and an oversized, slouchy clutch here.  A black leather clutch is one of those items that should be in every woman’s closet.  It is simple, classic, and can be dressed up or down very easily.

front and back views

Hope you saw something that you liked here today.  I had been really discouraged about ever finding a peplum that looked right on me.  If you feel that way about a certain clothing item, I would encourage you to just keep trying.  The right piece is out there somewhere. Happy hunting!

*Thanks to my friend Meliza for taking these photos and for making me laugh.
